Dogs' Tubes

thanks to chazhound.com for image

I steadfastly believe that the Friendly Tube on a dog is its tongue. Why, you ask? After all, isn't it the paw that the dog reaches forward when it wishes to shake paws/hands? This is a good argument, but one must realize that dog's don't go up to people trying to be their friends by reaching forth their paws - this is an un-natural trained behavior. The tongue on the other hand is what the dog uses to lick the faces and parts of other animals and people that it wants to be friends with. Dogs don't try to lick other living creatures that they do not like, so in essence they use the tongue to communicate friendship.

My Momma argued that the tail is in fact friendly tube. I can see why she would think this - when a dog is happy, he wags his tail. Furthermore, the tail is in the form of a tube! However, remember, the tail is only wagged to express feeling and the dog does not use its tail to touch things in order to communicate friendship. If you beg to differ, please do.
